Dark comment by NZ broadcaster
Row ensues after a New Zealand leading broadcaster described UN Secretary General Kofi Annan as a “cheeky darkie“.
At least 3 times, no less. As someone said “He must be quite mad”. I wish he was; unfortunately, all evidence points to him being sane and educated but the mofo has apparently always carried such beliefs. A friend tells me that NZ and Oz (Australia) aren’t quite as enlightened as their North American counterparts in their thinking, so while this instance was more outrageous what with the media platform, the warped perspective is not so uncommon. Always so amazing to think see/hear about such “educated/enlightened” people in supposedly advanced surroundings…
