I agree. I’ve pondered this before and realized that marriage is not a strictly heterosexual/religious domain; sexuality (heterosexuality AND homosexuality) HAS been around long before religion. Also, they are many atheist/agnostic people who care not a fig about religion but have the greatest regard for the sanctity of marriage. Because gay couples wish to get married does not necessarily mean that they’re defining themselves by heterosexual yardsticks. They’re just asking for the right to use today’s standard of ultimate commitment between a couple which = marriage.

Even if one had to consider it from a religious standpoint; do you ever wonder what it would have been like if some/all major figures (Christ, Muhammed, Buddha, etc) had been gay? Would it have been heterosexual behaviour that would be viewed as deviant/an unenlightened state of being? Since most religions preach peace and tolerance, how good a Christian/Muslim/Jew (insert any other religion here) can you be if you’re prejudging as opposed to letting God do the judging? I mean, what would be a bigger sacrilege than an incapability to truly love thy neighbour/live and let live?
