This & That, Ceci et Cela

In case any of their staff/even the writer stumble across this site, seeing as I have still not received a reply!

The Moscow Times online newsletter is read by non-Russian residents/citizens like me who don’t speak the language at all but are interested in global news and current affairs. So article like “Damsels in Linguistic Distress” and “Cold Cuts and Hot Beats” become a complete waste to a significant portion of your readers because the author/editors failed to provide one simple thing: a transliteration to accompany any translation of the Russian words printed in cyrillic (therefore unreadable by many like me). How many English-speaking non-Russian people do you think can actually read cyrillic text? I’d wager that many expats in Russia probably can’t, much less others around the world. Surely a “national” daily with articles by translators of all people would be sensitive to that fact?

Unless of course I’m mistaken in the sense that the Moscow Times is strictly intended for Native Russians therefore not a global publication and its being printed in English and made available online are just incidental features? I really don’t get it.  Consider me lost in transliteration.
