Interesting perspective on Korean-style clubbing/speed-dating:
“At normal nightclubs, men will approach women if they want some action. On the rare occasion, women will approach men. There`s always the chance of being rejected and having your ego badly bruised. Most Korean women are shy. If you go after what you want, chances are judgmental girlfriends will call you a slut behind your back. Thus, the booking club system was born!

At booking clubs, the waiters, who work as matchmakers, will drag a girl from her table and introduce her to men at the club. The more a man tips, the more attractive the girls become. Rich or well connected men can rent a private room complete with karaoke. If a girl is interested, she can stay and chat; if not she goes back to her friends and no one can call her names! As for the man, if a girl isn`t interested, he needn`t worry because the waiters just keep the girls coming! Ten years ago, it was the women who would have men brought to the table. Unfortunately these days, the tables have turned. There are more women than men at the booking clubs, especially earlier in the evening (Girls usually have to be home by their parent`s curfew time.)
