Japan’s celeb or cereb craze
People paying good money for classes on how to be like a “celeb”:
“On a sunny Sunday afternoon in May, more than three dozen women, most in their 20s and early 30s, took turns sashaying across a small conference room on the 49th floor of the tony Roppongi Hills complex. Chins up, broad smiles across their faces, they were clearly having fun “learning” to walk the walk of stars. All had come to take part in a “Celeb Style Series” workshop organized by Ecole de Protocole Monaco, a charm school in Tokyo’s Minami Aoyama district. Some traveled all the way from Ishikawa Prefecture and Okinawa. … “One, two, three, four” counted instructor Hiroshi Murotani. The women strolled about the room in fours to Murotani’s cadence. Something of a dandy, the middle-aged teacher, in addition to doing a bit of modeling himself, instructs professional mannequins how to strut down the catwalk.”
“Ecole de Protocole Monaco, which opened two years ago, is but one of many new charm schools. All cater to clients who dream of becoming “celebs.” … Many of the charm schools teach students how to behave in posh environments. Hatanaka, boss of Ecole de Protocole Monaco, has a house in Monaco where her Monacan husband and three-year-old son live.”
“Ecole de Protocole Monaco”? How magnamious; a soft hooker celeb who successfully dug claws into a rich dude with a Monaco pad wants to spread gospel of the skills required. Anyway, in case you wanna be a “serebrity” too, see the full article at Asahi.
