5 fed-up Saudi Arabian women from Riyadh have undergone sex changes in response to their stifling male dominated society:

Tired of playing second fiddle to men in the conservative, five women decided that if you can’t beat them, join them. Al Watan newspaper said the five women underwent sex change surgery abroad over the past 12 months after they developed a “psychological complex” due to male domination. Women in Saudi Arabia, which adopts an austere interpretation of Islam, are not allowed to drive or even go to public places unaccompanied by a male relative. (Reuters).

Naturally, the Muttaween (fanatical God Squad AKA Rabid Cleric Posse or members of the “Promotion of Virtue & Prevention of Vice committee” as they call themselves) are having a field day with this. Mouth-foaming was reportedly at a high over the public discussion of such an unvirtuous topic.
The newspaper quoted a senior posse member as saying that the authorities have to fill what he described as a legal vacuum by issuing laws against sex change operations. An interior ministry official told Al Watan such cases are examined by religious authorities, and sometimes by psychologists, but those who undergo sex change are never arrested.

I wonder if there are/were no arrests because afterall, they were changing over to the wiser, male sex. Quite the efficient approach. I mean, with more pressing celestial issues at stake, one cannot expect the busy authorities to make time to examine or acknowledge the underlying causes of such shenanigans (however unvirtuous)!
