Things Google could stand to fix
STOP limiting query term to 10 words; why disable the user from using a 48-word boolean string to achieve highly relevant results? Eg, I need to find more on the type of apple served at a dinner party last week. For whatever reason, I’m unable to contact the host/hostess/cook directly to confirm. So I decide to google it. Maybe a general search does not reveal any sites with all sorts of info about apple. So I do a boolean search. While I may not know which kind of apple exactly, I do know that it isn’t macintosh, granny smith, gala, fiji, crab, green, etc.
OR ‘m looking for precisely this book: “A history of shoe fashions: a study of shoe design in relation to costume for shoe designers, pattern cutters, manufacturers, fashion students and dress” by “Eunice Wilson” long title, but ability to search for the entire title and author as opposed to the first ten words would eliminate anything but 100% relevant results.
* Expand time choices to offer sites updated in less than 3 months ago
* Expand result choices to offer user ability to specify that only pages including search terms AND that have been updated less than 3 months ago if necessary
* Add a “blogs” tab to enable users to search for results specifically on blogs (current choices include web, images, and news). Doing so would take into account the widespread use and popularity of blogs/online journals.
