Everett WA — Five baristas are accused of engaging in prostitution at an Everett bikini espresso stand following a two-month undercover police investigation into complaints that the women were selling more than coffee. Detectives say the women were charging up to $80 to strip down and flash customers while fixing lattes and mochas. Investigators saw the women expose their crotches, lick whipped cream off their co-workers’ private parts and pose naked for pictures inside the Grab-n-Go Espresso stand. …

Apparently, after getting over 40 complaints about various “bikini coffee stands” in the area, the po-po decided to investigate Grab-n-Go Espresso chain, as it generated the most complaints. Naturally, owner Bill Wheeler could not be reached for comment at press time.

It has all come to a head; Icelandic Prime Minister announced the Icelandic government’s collapse yesterday. He probably wanted to avoid finding out what else could happen after having his car pelted with eggs by angry citizens. Sounds like they’re in search of an Obama. One would think the crisis would means drastically reduced airfares to that land of hot springs, but it seems the national airline missed the memo.

Meanwhile, who knew that there was an Iceland in Canada? Apparently, Gimli, Manitoba is a sizeable (pop 6000) ethnic block settlement of Bjork’s peeps. Given the current crisis, the town expects an rise in immigration from the homeland and the mayor confirms increased inquiries from Iceland. Globe&Mail reports:

“Such bleak prospects have prompted some Icelanders, for the first time in nearly a century, to look west, for a new home among the Manitobans they affectionately call Vestur Islandingur – West Icelanders”.

Canucks reportedly welcome the move, especially the potential flood of Ice blondes and Reyka vodka that it implies.

The image was stunning: tens of thousands of saffron-robed Buddhist monks marching through the streets of Rangoon [also known as Yangon], protesting the military dictatorship of Burma. The monks marched in front of the home of Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, who was seen weeping and praying quietly as they passed. She hadnt been seen for years. The democratically elected leader of Burma, Suu Kyi has been under house arrest since 2003. Still, gruesome images of murdered monks and other activists and accounts of executions make it out to the global public. At the time of this writing, several unconfirmed accounts of prisoners being burned alive have been posted to Burma-solidarity Web sites.

Rice knows it well: Chevron. Fueling the military junta that has ruled for decades are Burmas natural gas reserves, controlled by the Burmese regime in partnership with the U.S. multinational oil giant Chevron, the French oil company Total and a Thai oil firm.
