Uhnold the groper’s apology

On Californian gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger’s apology to all those women he alleged harassed sexually:
I doubt sincerity has anything to do with it.  He apologized because he had to; possibly incriminating evidence that wouldn’t go away and also to stop accusations from gaining unruly momentum.  Surely, at least one woman along the way must have told him off but it apparently didn’t stop it.  A most curious thing in itself given that he said he doesn’t remember the incidents, which occurred between three and 30 years ago.

A very smart and politically savvy move, yes. Forgiveability? Not applicable because this has nothing to do with the propensity for him to do it again now or in the future. Not applicable because truth and politics just don’t seem to mix so I hold no illusions when viewing politicians. A more realistic view is to take him with this fault/habit and decide whether to endorse him/not, but not to assume that the habit will suddenly dissapear. I don’t find the whole thing outrageous at all; rather, the only disturbing aspect is that the women were apparently unwilling. Otherwise, I’d care less; if he just cheats around with consenting adults, that’s his wife’s business. I only care about his performance on the job; he’s a political, NOT a moral leader.
